rb auction usability report
This project was to create a usability report as a group for a company’s website and report our findings to an audience. This report was generated through crowdsourced opinions gathered from a live test where participants were given various tasks on the website and asked to share their thoughts on the ease, and functionality of the current website. The findings would then be grouped and proposals for new user interface elements would be created.

user research
The typical users of the website were discussed among the group and narrowed down to a few archetypes. From the archetypes, we each created a persona that would fit into said group and used that as a basis to finding both our candidates for the live testing, as well as figuring out what kind of questions we should be asking.

test creation
Google forms was used for the more written portion of the live test giving the candidates a way to express their opinions and provide answers for navigation questions. Usability Hub was used for the second part of the questionnaire. From Usability Hub we had the participants complete a 5 second look test, first click test, and a preference test to compare Ritchie Bros. website, when applicable, to competitors’ websites.

live testing
After finding participants for the test, they were sat down and ran through the test. The entire session was recorded for study and answers were also recorded separately via results page from each website. The test provided deeper insight into underlying problems with the website that outside users may be experiencing daily and gave a start to creating proposals for solutions.

report creation
All information from the previous sections was consolidated into a PDF report and in addition, contained information about proposed solutions and outlines the main issues found on the website.
